We opened our doors 5 years ago, with a simple goal: to create a peaceful and inspiring space where guests and furry friends could feel truly at home. What started as our personal sanctuary quickly became a beloved retreat for travelers, artists, dreamers, and Home Town fans from all walks of life. Where It All Began
Welcome to the Gingerbird Art Suite!
We’re Ramon, Jon, and Lady—a small family who traded the fast pace of a big city for the soulful charm of Laurel, Mississippi. Our journey began during the pandemic, when we left behind the East Coast in search of a slower rhythm and a deeper sense of community. What we found was more than a house; we discovered a home, a creative haven, and a new way of living.
Our historic home was featured on HGTV’s “Home Town” (Season 6, Episode 2: “Bones & Bugs”). Renovating this space alongside the show’s talented team allowed us to blend Laurel’s rich history with Jon’s whimsical art—think deer, bats, and birds peeking out from every corner.
But the biggest transformation came when Lady, our rescue pup, adopted us. She’s the true heart of Gingerbird. Lady’s joyful energy inspired us to create a space that’s not only beautiful and welcoming, but also dog-friendly and full of warmth. Her presence reminds us daily to slow down, savor the garden, and greet every guest (furry or not!) with open arms.
